This project was born from a need to be able to control the glow of a filament for the purpose of photography.

In our inventory we do have a larger variac, a (variable transformer), however rather than dragging out a larger and heavy unit, we set about making a simple dimmer box.

At the heart, we used the Diginet MMDM/RT LEDSmart dimmer and the MMDM/DD LED level display.

The dimmer modules are housed in a standard electrical enclosure fitted with a low-profile power point for the dimming circuit and an IEC plug on the input side.
